Council Member Ongoing Development (CMOD) Workshops

Council Member Ongoing Development (CMOD) Workshops are organized and planned by the Council Coordination Committee (CCC). These meetings are designed to:

  1. Provide a policy-neutral setting that will promote the exchange of information on management challenges and accomplishments by attendees from the eight Regional Fishery Management Councils and National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) personnel.

  2. Educate attendees on developing fisheries science and management on specifically focused issues so that attendees can thoroughly explore and discuss topics in detail.

  3. Improve skills identified as important for effective decision-making in the public policy arena used by Regional Fishery Management Councils.

Workshops will be held roughly every other year and attendance is limited to 42 participants: four participants from each of the eight Councils; and 10 NMFS personnel. Each workshop will be hosted by one of the Regional Fishery Management Councils on a rotating basis.
